The Reality of Autocratic Legalism
Here is the truth: Modern democracies rarely end with a military coup. They end slowly. Governments commanding parliamentary majorities use formally valid legal processes to systematically dismantle checks and balances.
CRALP is our answer to this threat. It is an intellectually rigorous research instrument designed specifically for execution by a student-led organization. We do not need subpoena power. We evaluate constitutional compliance exclusively using publicly available evidence—gazettes, court judgments, and corroborated media reports—to create a permanent, undeniable record of constitutional health.
System-Level Audit
A mathematically rigorous score assessing the overall health of 8 core institutional pillars, from Judicial Independence to Electoral Integrity.
Law-Level Audit (LCI)
The Law Constitutionality Index evaluates specific bills and laws against the constitutional floor to identify structural threats before they are enacted.
A Transparent, Mathematical Methodology
Strict Evidentiary Verdicts
Every metric begins at a perfect 10.0. Penalties are strictly applied based on public evidentiary tiers, removing subjectivity:
- CONFIRMED (1.0x): Official record
- INDICATED (0.5x): Media corroborated
- NONE (0.0x): Insufficient evidence
The Final Score & Uncertainty Margin
No social science metric is perfectly precise. To prevent overclaiming false precision, we calculate the variance among independent raters. Every score is published with a mandatory uncertainty margin.
The Ultra Vires Override
If the Basic Structure of the constitution is violated, or if electoral integrity entirely collapses, all calculations immediately stop. The score becomes 0.0 (Constitutional Collapse).
Our Intention: "The Teeth"
"If this is run by students without legal authority, what are the actual teeth of this protocol?"
We do not rely on legal compulsion. We rely on the permanent record. A student-led organisation cannot compel a captured Parliament or a compliant judiciary. But what we can do is create an evidentially grounded, publicly legible record of the constitutional condition that no subsequent government can erase.
International Submissions
We submit rigorous briefs directly to UN Special Rapporteurs and Commonwealth bodies who actively solicit and cite civil society research.
Legislative Pre-Clearance
We publish constitutional analyses within five days of a bill being tabled, providing investigative journalists with a credible baseline.
Trend Visibility
A publicly visible score that declines year over year creates accumulated, undeniable reputational pressure.
